Hey, Miss Stone. Alvin here--from a few weeks ago, remember? [He sighs.] Looks like my bakery guy went back to the sea before I could fish a cake recipe out of him, but I've got the other stuff you've asked for and a hell of a lot of fruit, besides.
The Hunters gave me a whole leather coat you can alter. That's easier than starting from scratch, right?
[she was wondering why you hadn't come in for a fitting.]
Oh! Please, call me Alayne. Lady Alayne, if you prefer. That should only take me a day or two. I have found lemoncake recipes, but I could use some help in deciphering them, and of course your expert judgement.
Good day, Miss Stone. [ he has a light male voice, with a diluted British accent. Scottish? ] We spoke last month about making a coat that could withstand fighting in?
I've gotten all the materials that are needed I think. [ with -- assistance. lots of asking assistance from some kindly older women running one of the textile shops. lots of literally bleeding for it. ] Would I be able to stop by for the fitting you mentioned and drop them off?
If you're still working on orders? With, ah -- the month being what it is.
[ Shouto leaves a wooden crate at Sansa's door the day before the bake-off. Inside the crate are 12 half-pint mason jars full of jams, each labeled with their names (apricot jam, strawberry jam, etc). On top of the crate is a small card that simply says

[oh...........bless him. sansa will attempt the strawberry, smell something weird, and taste it cautiously with one finger. then she will give them all to l(azarus) to see if he can figure out the ingredients.
sometime later, she will approach shouto at the sanctuary with a crate containing a jar each of her seven 'showstopper' jams:
strawberry rose
orange marmalade (with a pinch of cayenne)
saffron and green grape
green gooseberry with rosemary
ginger-lime (with blue magic spirulina)
blackberry mint
boysenberry plum
all gently boiled with sugar and yuzu juice.
tucked in the crate is a thank-you note:]
Shouto,
Thank you very much for all the jam. It was very interesting. For my Showstopper challenge, I had to make seven different kinds of jam to match the colors of the rainbow. I learned a good deal about different fruit preserves in this process, and I would very much enjoy talking to you about them sometime. Did you know there are savory jams, called chutneys? They often use vinegar for a sour taste. Perhaps we could try and make some together! I hope you like the jams I came up with–it was very hard to think of a blue one. I've included all my recipes, they're very easy when you don't have to make all seven at once!
Thank you,
Alayne.
[indeed all seven recipes are written out neatly on a sheet of paper tucked in the envelope with the thank-you note.]
hello sansa. violet is currently locked in a shop basement in willful machine, awaiting a decision on her punishment for vandalism and theft. your assistance in smoothing this over in a sensible manner without further violence would be greatly appreciated. apologies.
[locked in a shop basement? sansa has never heard of such a thing happening in trench. was this the usual fate of pickpockets in willful machine?]
Of course I'll help. Why would she need to steal? Can't she just give them a little blood?
[sansa grabs her belt and change purse full of bloodstone, adds a handful of larger beads of powered bloodstone, clips her chatelaine with the obsidian dagger to it, and heads out with both hounds and lady.]
hello, sansa. there is no great need for worry, as this is not like the last time we spoke in this way.
earlier today violet was reunited with her sister for a time. i was summoned to carry the both of them home, only to find that jinx (formerly powder) was no longer on my back. we have gone up and down the beach together and separately, and i cannot convince violet to leave.
she means to stay and look. and wait. and to sleep here, "just in case".
it is not the safest place to be at the moment, but where we are is high ground and i will keep her out of harm's way. she did not want you to worry that she had gotten into trouble. she is too sad for trouble just now, but i will keep watch until she is ready to come home.
perhaps i will return with two sleepers, but i do not think it likely.
( Both Peter and The Other have made connection with this mysterious young woman. As Susurrus begins to stir, reaching out more, seeking tethers to follow, he's drawn towards Sansa's spirit. To the entity connected with it, another Omen.
He's never spoken, not the way he begins to now. The mental voice that reaches through is a soft hiss: gentle and shy like the boy, but curious and alien like the demon. It tries itself out, flicks its forked tongue as it projects thought and intention. )
[it's not an unpleasant surprise, but it is a bit surprising nonetheless. winter shuffles his feathers in his perch in the weirwood.]
I can hear you, though I can't say we've been introduced. I am Winterfell, called Winter; I accompany Sansa Stark, and it would be rude of me to deny you the chance to make your own introduction.
[he searches anyway. the boy with the passenger; interesting. he wonders if this omen belongs both of them.]
They were given to me for my nameday, and I only have a little. Can't you just buy some of the powdered green tea that Sasuke likes? There's bloodstone in my cutting room.
Walking down the halls of the sanctuary, Megumi swears he hears music playing. Following the sounds he catches a glimpse of Sansa's banners, the banquet, the guests, and the gift table. It's clear this is a birthday party. Unfortunately he's busy with work at the moment and doesn't have time to stop by now , but that doesn't mean he's forgotten.
The next day he heads over to the rookery and leaves a small plain box on the counter. Inside is a well wrapped antique tea cup and two pouches. Upon opening the first, she will be hit with the nutty smell of hazelnut coffee beans. The second pouch has a much sweeter and lighter smell. Ground up finely is a bag of homemade high quality matcha tea with dried peaches for extra flavoring. And what's this, there's a note at the bottom. In small very neat handwriting:
Happy Birthday, may you have a prosperous year.
~ 伏ふし黒ぐろ恵 Fushiguro Megumi followed by a large paw print. 🐾 (Kage couldn't help herself!) ]
[fushiguro will find a box on his doorstop tied securely with a leather strap, lightly chewed at the ends (where vhagar held it in her mouth). inside are some very securely wrapped parcels containing savory mushroom-and-onion hand pies (refrigerated), a few lemoncakes and honeycakes (gently squashed), some chocolate chip cookies and sweetbiscuits with marzipan weirwood leaves (occasionally broken), and frozen pieces of oxtail and marrowbone (for pepper, and kage if she wants). everything else was a bit too leaky to travel well.
there is a note on top of the parcels stamped with sansa's direwolf-and-weirwood leaf sigil in silvery wax. it reads:]
Dear Fushiguro and Kage,
Thank you very much for the beautiful teacup and teas.
[she does not know what coffee is and assumes the grounds operate on much the same principle as the matcha.]
They smell wonderful, and it's the loveliest thing in my kitchen. I hope you'll come by sometime so I might have an occasion to use them both. Your presence was missed at the party, and I'm very sorry you weren't able to make it, but I hope this will allow you and Pepper to take part in the feasting a little.
We look forward to seeing all of you again.
Thank you,
Sansa Stark Winter [this seems to be in different handwriting??] Lady, Smores, Knight, Vhagar, and Visenya (the batcat) [it seemed rude to leave her out...]
Alright, Miss Ange. I have done the research into the singing, dancing infant boys, and my official report is that the "Backstreet Boys" are preferable to "In Sync".
[Break's dear ones from other worlds have begun to catch on to the fact that you have to worry about him less if you can keep him occupied with little quests.
Hallo, this is Sansa Stark's omen Winter, and not the lady Ange. The omni crystals have not been working properly, you would do better to send a message with Lord Baltus.
How many singing, dancing infant boys are there? We could never get any of our brothers to sing anything before their second nameday. And Rickon mostly shouted along, even when he was bigger.
[On the day of Christmas, Sansa will find that a gift has been delivered to the Sanctuary addressed to her. It's a simple box with some basic, brown paper wrappings and some red yarn, decorated with little drawings of snowflakes, decorated pine trees (Christmas trees, obviously), and candy canes. Inside there's quite a few clothing items with a notably modern flair - a knit cap with severalpins stuck into it, and insulated leggings for the colder weather. Ochako even included some chic sweaterdresses also.
In between all the clothes, there's also a small book of various recipes and a baggy of handmade usagi mochi to symbolize the new year. Not pounded, sadly, but will still taste absolutely scrumptious. These are Ochako's specialty, after all. Speaking of, a small gift card will be included, a drawing of the planet Saturn as an ornament on one side, and a note on the other:]
Dear Sansa,
I don't know if your world celebrates it, but today is Christmas in my world - a winter holiday where you give gifts to people you care about!! Friends, family, loved ones...etc. And!! I thought since you're ALWAYS making clothes and stuff for everyone, that you'd appreciate some for yourself as well!! I know these may not be your usual style, but experimenting with stuff like that is what makes fashion so much fun!! I hope you enjoy them, and they all fit well. If not, please let me know and I can exchange them for something else.
The food in there is mochi!! I don't know if you've had it? It's like a chewy, sweet rice cake that we make closer to the New Year in my world. They're my favorite snack!! These ones are filled with chocolate cream and a little strawberry, they're suuuuper tasty!! Pair really well with a white or green tea, too. c('w'c)
I hope you're doing well. The weather is terrible, and the snow is even worse. It's piled up so high here we needed our Omens to clear a path just to get out the front door... Hope you're staying warm. If you need anything, reach out to me. Rescue is what I specialize in as a Hero, and I've done a few mock snow rescues, too. You can count on me!!
[a parcel wrapped in muslin and tied with a leather strap, lightly chewed at the ends, is left at ochako and bakogou's residence the following day. it contains: a brown fur stole that crosses over and zips in the back, pieced together and lined with quilted wool padding for warmth and protection, with gold star sequins decorating the shoulders, a pair of simple woolen dresses in forest green and dusky pink, decorated with stars and crystals at the shoulders and sleeves, and little bear faces at the back of the neck. there's a simple leather shirt made to bakugous's measurements, too, carved with his explosion sigil at the collar. a packet of gingerbread has been wrapped in muslin and hastily added.
there is a card, stamped with sansa's personal direwolf-and-weirwood sigil in shimmering grey wax:]
Dear Ochako, Thank you so much for your beautiful gifts! We don't have many winter holidays on my world, but Allen has told me a little of Christmas, and we had a wonderful time celebrating at the Sanctuary yesterday. I have been making presents for everyone all month; there are so many beautiful winter holidays to celebrate! I should like to hear more about how you celebrate the new year; we do have that in my world, and Madame Generosity has informed me it's my blessed day.
[sansa has no concept of a solar year, so she does not realize it may be different from a lunar year, and have different new year's days...]
The mochi are delicious and so soft! I did try to make mochi cupcakes for your nameday party, since Bakagou said you liked them, but they weren't very different from cupcakes made of wheat.
[she just....substituted mochi flour...which she was very proud of finding!!!]
I should like to learn how you make your mochi sometime. Anyway, I hope you and Bakugou enjoy your gifts, and I look forward to seeing you again soon.
Please let me know if you need any more padding or woolen things for the cold weather, I should very much like to help you too!
[ On the week of the 25th, Sansa will find a messily wrapped package on her doorstep with her name on it (it may be next to Vi's and Jinx's). Her's is much smaller than theirs. It comes with her name written on the paper. When she opens it up, she'll find a delicately-made ring set with a pair of bloodstones; the branches are off-white instead of gold to match the weirwood. A small note accompanies the gift.
"We should do some embroidery again together soon.
[sansa slips the ring on her finger immediately, a little overwhelmed with gratitude and affection; she catches herself rereading sharon's note as if there might be a hidden message in it, but she realizes she doesn't know what she's looking for. instead she sends vhagar out with a package for sharon's doorstep. it includes a grey fur stole with straps, a black dress with padded shoulders with a knee-length hemline that's a bit longer in back, per trench fashions, and a cold bloodstone rose brooch pinned to its collar. all three can be worn together or seperately. it's all bundled together in muslin and tied with a leather strap, lightly chewed. the card in sides reads:]
I look forward to it. Happy holidays, Sharon.
Sansa Stark of Winterfell
[her signature has a lot of flourishes to poke fun at the excessive formality of using their full names. she doesn't know any other sharons, anyway.]
( While Peter isn't one to... Do Holiday Things, there is technically a part of him that reaches out. Not because the ancient demon king of Hell has much interest in holiday celebrations, but Paimon has learned that it's a time when many people Gift Things, and connection with others is of a special importance to his spirit. The energy is right for it, and so, towards the end of the month, he bestows little gifts to people.
Left on Sansa's doorstep, wrapped carefully in thin cloth, is another odd little doll, this one in the likeness of a raven — meticulously hand-crafted with an assortment of random bits and bobbles collected over time.
Set next to the doll, like a calling card, is a leaf — bearing Paimon's sigil delicately burned into it like filigree. )
[sansa is just going to give that leaf sigil to palamedes for study (it's odd that paimon's sigil should always have a strange power every time he draws it...perhaps it is that it's burned into it with magic, here?)...in the meantime, she leaves a bundle of clothes, two pairs of black skinny jeans embroidered with moons on various pockets for peter, and a gold waistcoat for paimon. there is a note bundled into the muslin with it, and it's tied with a leather strap, lightly chewed at the ends. the card reads:]
Happy holidays, Paimon!
Thank you for the sweet little raven. I imagine my little doll is very glad of its company. I hope you don't mind that I've enclosed a gift for Petyr along with yours, here. I thought it would make things easier. I do hope to see you both at the Sanctuary for our Christmas holiday party, along with Lady Luna, and I hope winter treats you well enough until then.
I hope the scissors can help with your amazing clothes-making! The necklace is just for you, though. Your cookies are specifically lemon flavored, I remembered how much you liked that from the bake-off!
I hope you stay warm and safe this winter! Love you, Usagi
[well, now sansa has to get silver rabbit clasps for the hooded, fur-lined cloak in dove grey she made for usagi. they are bundled around a bag of pale bloodstone and cold bloodstone beads in various shapes, including a few pendant-sized leaves and stars, and a selection of carefully wrapped cookies from the sanctuary celebrations (try as she might, she can't remember if usagi had any particular favorites in the bakeoff, though she does remember everyone's places). the bundle includes a note, and it's wrapped in muslin and tied with a leather strap (ends lightly chewed). the card reads:]
Dear Usagi, Thank you for the beautiful shears and necklace, and the lemon cookies. I did like them very much! The shears have proven very useful and sturdy as well as lovely. I hope you enjoyed your holidays, and I'm sorry to be sending my gift a little late.
[bundled in muslin is a fur-lined woolen cloak in a pale grey and leather straps carved with a branching weirwood pattern. there's a heavy fur stole that ties on to the shoulders and a smattering of beaded weirwood leves embroidered at the bottom. there's also a ring made of pale bloodstone, as powerful as she can get it. it's wrapped in muslin and tied with a leather strap lightly chewed at the ends. enclosed is a card:]
Dear Lady Snow, Happy holidays, and happy nameday too. You may count on my support if ever you find yourself in need of it. The ring is to help you with your gifts. Thank you very much for the pie, it is as delicious as it is beautiful. Lemon was always my favorite.
[This year, Maul had decided to behave himself when it came to giving gifts, unlike in years past where he broke into people's houses rather like Santa himself did. All gifts are left on the porch or front step of the recipient's home for them to find in the morning.
Even though he and Sansa had already exchanged gifts, he still got something for the young lady. Knowing her primarily through all the posts on the network she did involving her many animals, he got her a few sets of sturdy pet dishes and a note from Maul wishing her Merry Christmas.]
[sansa has managed to track down a black sheepskin. bundled carefully inside it is homemade shortbread with bacon crumbles and chili flakes (no sugar added!) wrapped in oilcloth. the sheepskin itself is wrapped in muslin and tied with a leather strap, lightly chewed at the ends. it contains a card stamped with sansa's direwolf-and-weirwood-branch sigil.]
Lord Maul,
Thank you very much for the sturdy dishes. They are very useful for feeding the ravens. The black sheepskin can be laced onto your cloak like the fur, and the spiced biscuits have bacon and aren't at all sweet. I hope you enjoy them both, and that you enjoyed your holidays. I'm sorry to be sending this a little late.
[He waits two days, after their involuntary speed 'date' to leave a message. He doesn't want to leave her worrying for long, about some of the things she told him. If she is worrying.
On the other hand, if she's just plain embarrassed - well, he hopes a little bit of time is enough for potential mortification to wear off.
He considers making his message a text, going full tilt formal. That's her safe zone, he's pretty sure. It would give her space to retreat, reply with a perfunctory message, and that would be that.
But that also doesn't feel quite right, after the intensity of their face-to-face conversation. Too easy to interpret that he wants a safe zone.
In the end, he records a voice message ahead of time to send. She can decide whether or not to call back.]
Sansa. This is Ezra.
I just wanted to say - [An audible sucking in breath] I know the chair pretty much forced you to tell me some things you really did not want to.
That's not fair to you. I won't offer an apology, because we were technically in a mutual bind...unless you want one.
But I promise every word you said about your past is in confidence. I cannot imagine how repeating any of it could ever, I don't know, save a life or soul. But I will not break that confidence for anything less important and final. I swear it on the Force.
[Ok, maybe that's too intense. Should he add something more light hearted?
[it occurs to sansa halfway through this message that she never really worried about ezra telling anybody anything. she smiles faintly to herself as she listens. it's an additional kindness she wasn't expecting.]
Thank you, Ezra. It was kind of you to think of me. I very much appreciate your discretion, and I can assure you that you have mine as well. I do think Vi and Jinx might like to hear what you have to say about family, though. They were separated before they came here, and it's been hard for them. Would you like to have dinner with us sometime? I can summon any kind of food with my gift from Madame Generosity.
hey sansa. its robby ive been collecting some of the food around with a friend. if you have anything you want or have too much of something let me know and maybe we can trade
[ And then, another quick text: ]
and good luck with any blood business this month. seems like its up to its usual weird stuff again
Hallo, Robby. It's good to hear from you. I've been gathering what fruit I know for the Sanctuary, but there's very much that I don't, and I should be glad to see what you have so I know what else to look for. I've also been collecting flowers we can use in seeking The Moon Presence's blessing for the new city.
We do have far more mint than we know what to do with, though.
[it's a plant menace!!]
I should be very glad to give you any. Fresh mint is very nice in tea.
I have noticed that words and sounds have colors now, when they didn't last month. I can see through them well enough, so it isn't very distracting.
[it's a little worse that her hands seem to taste things, but mostly they only taste her linen gloves and sewing supplies, which mostly makes her mouth feel dry, and she doesn't wish to talk about with robby.]
I hope you aren't having too much trouble with the blood curses, either.
It's good to meet you, Anakin. I thought it would be nice to celebrate together. It wouldn't be any trouble to have something like that at the Sanctuary, but of course we'd be very grateful if anyone wanted to help.
Hey, Sansa, have you been hearing anything about people feeling uncomfortable lately?
[ Her initial draft of this text had been Have you been wanting to crawl out of your skin like you're a moth? But that sounded insane. She knows Sansa wouldn't judge her but that might pique the other girl's worry and she didn't want that. ]
[this would be alarmingly vague if sansa weren't so used to it from the wellness center. sailors don't make the most helpful patients.]
Hallo, Sharon. Yes, people come to the Wellness Center with all manner of complaints. Sometimes I have to take them to the Painted Turtle Clinic. I could take you too, if you like.

You might come by for a fitting any time before five o'clock. I can't promise I'll be around much after that, as I have lessons in the evening.

sometime later, she will approach shouto at the sanctuary with a crate containing a jar each of her seven 'showstopper' jams:
strawberry rose
orange marmalade (with a pinch of cayenne)
saffron and green grape
green gooseberry with rosemary
ginger-lime (with blue magic spirulina)
blackberry mint
boysenberry plum
all gently boiled with sugar and yuzu juice.
tucked in the crate is a thank-you note:]
Shouto,
Thank you very much for all the jam.
Thank you,
Alayne.
[indeed all seven recipes are written out neatly on a sheet of paper tucked in the envelope with the thank-you note.]

hello sansa. violet is currently locked in a shop basement in willful machine, awaiting a decision on her punishment for vandalism and theft. your assistance in smoothing this over in a sensible manner without further violence would be greatly appreciated. apologies.

Of course I'll help. Why would she need to steal? Can't she just give them a little blood?

earlier today violet was reunited with her sister for a time. i was summoned to carry the both of them home, only to find that jinx (formerly powder) was no longer on my back. we have gone up and down the beach together and separately, and i cannot convince violet to leave.
she means to stay and look. and wait. and to sleep here, "just in case".
it is not the safest place to be at the moment, but where we are is high ground and i will keep her out of harm's way. she did not want you to worry that she had gotten into trouble. she is too sad for trouble just now, but i will keep watch until she is ready to come home.
perhaps i will return with two sleepers, but i do not think it likely.

Omen Speak
He's never spoken, not the way he begins to now. The mental voice that reaches through is a soft hiss: gentle and shy like the boy, but curious and alien like the demon. It tries itself out, flicks its forked tongue as it projects thought and intention. )
Can you hear me?

I can hear you, though I can't say we've been introduced. I am Winterfell, called Winter; I accompany Sansa Stark, and it would be rude of me to deny you the chance to make your own introduction.

Thank you,
Sansa Stark

Christmas Gift Delivery!! | 12/25
Your friend,
Uraraka Ochako ♥

there is a card, stamped with sansa's personal direwolf-and-weirwood sigil in shimmering grey wax:]
Dear Ochako,
Thank you so much for your beautiful gifts!

Left on Sansa's doorstep, wrapped carefully in thin cloth, is another odd little doll, this one in the likeness of a raven — meticulously hand-crafted with an assortment of random bits and bobbles collected over time.
Set next to the doll, like a calling card, is a leaf — bearing Paimon's sigil delicately burned into it like filigree. )
delivery, a few days later
Happy holidays, Paimon!
Thank you for the sweet little raven. I imagine my little doll is very glad of its company. I hope you don't mind that I've enclosed a gift for Petyr along with yours, here. I thought it would make things easier. I do hope to see you both at the Sanctuary for our Christmas holiday party, along with Lady Luna, and I hope winter treats you well enough until then.
Thank you,
Sansa Stark

Even though he and Sansa had already exchanged gifts, he still got something for the young lady. Knowing her primarily through all the posts on the network she did involving her many animals, he got her a few sets of sturdy pet dishes and a note from Maul wishing her Merry Christmas.]

Lord Maul,
Thank you very much for the sturdy dishes. They are very useful for feeding the ravens. The black sheepskin can be laced onto your cloak like the fur, and the spiced biscuits have bacon and aren't at all sweet. I hope you enjoy them both, and that you enjoyed your holidays. I'm sorry to be sending this a little late.
Thank you,

In the end, he leaves it at that, and hits send.]

Thank you, Ezra. It was kind of you to think of me. I very much appreciate your discretion, and I can assure you that you have mine as well. I do think Vi and Jinx might like to hear what you have to say about family, though. They were separated before they came here, and it's been hard for them. We do have far more mint than we know what to do with, though.
