[she will wait (im)patiently, pacing the room. it's not as if she hasn't tried to move through the place vi had been when she was taken - a street half a block away - she had tried several times before sending the message. but she will gladly (or solemnly, really) try again.]
(it doesn't take jinx long at all to get to vi's room (definitely not when she used her shimmer speed the entire way). and practically swinging the door wide open, she is already armed with pow-pow strap to her back.)
Let's go.
(this is irrational thinking? oh certainly. does she care she is heading off somewhere she knows literally nothing about? not at all. she can just wing it as usual.)
[fang knows it is irrational, but she was told to watch over jinx, and she thinks that words will not be enough, here. some of vi's resoluteness about her final plea (order?) has leeched into her, so she will see this through. the gun is no surprise, but where they are going is not dangerous. she's a black whoosh out of the rookery - no lamp needed, it's not even a block away, a series of small turns near a shop. it's just a street. it's just ...stone. she glares at the ground, noses it again and tries to move through it - past it - sidestep it - wherever vi might be, but she only whirls into smoke and reforms over and over until she says, panting:]
[her whole form shudders as she lies down on the spot, pressing herself flat and becoming nothing more than a growling mist glistening above the dark street.]
(jinx follows along and to her surprise the area only is a few feet away from the home. she expected it to be a long journey or even an obstacle. but no. all there is - is stone pavement which fang rests on top of. her hand clenches and unclenches -- her mind speeding on to think of any possible solution or options for them.)
Then... (a brief silence.) — Then we just dig! You can grow big, right? Just, y'know, grow into a buildin' size wolf and rip the ground in half.
(even with her suggesting this out loud, she's not fully convinced it would be something that could work. underneath the street is nothing but the earth. soil, roots, buried pebbles, insects or worms if they too exist in this realm. )
[fang tilts her head at the girl, having had a mind to demonstrate near the same thing. and so she grows big. so big she's almost as tall as the second story of the shop, and slams herself into the ground, only to dissipate into another shimmer of smoke.]
(her anger isn't gear towards fang at all; not intentionally. she is just upset vi could be in danger right now and she's over here standing...doing nothing. her hair is sparking red as she gets on her hands and knees to try and claw through with her own fingers.
her nails are chipping and breaking when she tries but there is no care for it as she feverously moving a few loose rocks fang created. )
[fang will let her dig. they could try and stop her, but it's not going to help anything - and better to let jinx get some of that nervous desperation - panic - anger - fear - all of the things - better this way that some other way. fang also doesn't give very many fucks if sleepers are angry at them, even when it's sleepers they like. (though sometimes they do make a show of Great Hurt, for the lolz.)
if only they could burn through the ground to where vi was.]
(that... probably won't do anything for them but it's just jinx's typical answer to any situation. when her fingers begin to ache, she huffs out a groan then swings her machine gun around. with its barrel, she uses it as a shovel (or attempting to) to dig up the rest of the small hole she's creating. it's not going very well, though.)
[were the situation not as grim as all this, fang might laugh at the idea. but nothing is very funny just now, and instead they shrink down to pick at the rubble with a paw, dislodging another small piece.]
[a suspiciouslly blue-eyed raven settles on an outcrop nearby. when it opens its beak, it speaks with sansa's voice, thick with emotion.]
Never Mind says it's some people in a cult dedicated to a Pthumerian called Riteoir. They've been pulling people into another world, another dimension. He doesn't know how to get them out. He doesn't seem very worried about it, but Pthumerians can't understand things like danger.
[a very human sigh.]
Perhaps a very powerful Darkblood mage could try to summon her back, or several of them, working together. I don't know. I'm sorry I can't do more.
(the raven talking in sansa's voice is...jarring but she shoves that feeling aside. it's really going to take some time for her to get use to the mechanics of this world. regardless, she listens then stops shoveling the earth around.)
Okay, so we go off and find some Darkblood warlocks, right? — Easy enough.
(but is it? not that she truly knows but she's trying to mentally force herself to say that it is. standing up right, she combs through her bands with her fingers and sighs. jinx is trying to keep her emotions under control and it shows with her hair swapping from red to blue or the mixture of the two every few seconds.)
... I need my ring.
(she mutters this out loud before turning on her heel to stomp back in the house.)
[sansa reshuffles her raven's feathers in much the same way as her omen does.]
She should keep her bloodstone on her. It makes things easier. We can make a video for the net work; I do know some Darkblood mages, and Wanda is a very good one, but I've heard they've been losing memories this month. Perhaps if we ask everybody, they can help to make sure the Darkbloods show up.
[she clicks her beak thoughtfully.]
Perhaps someone will have heard of this Riteoir from the Dream world before Trench. That's the only thing I can think of that Never Mind wouldn't know already.
[she cocks her raven head to one side, again much as winter is prone to.]
If they can reach into our world, it should follow that we could learn to reach into theirs. Unless this power belongs to Riteoir alone...I don't know that our Patrons can do it; Argonaut made portals, but no people could go through them. Mariana might have that power, but I don't know that she'd understand it if we asked.
[she cocks her head to the other side.]
But there are thousands of other Pthumerians––not the mad ones in the sky, but there are some in the ocean said to be quite helpful at times. Perhaps one of them might be able to do it. It's very hard to discuss terms with them, though––I don't know what they want, not truly, and I don't dare make promises I can't afford to keep. Vi wouldn't want us destroying Trench to find her. That's all that keeps me from being reckless looking for my own family; I don't know that it will be enough for Jinx, right now. Perhaps if she hears it from Mister Bananas.
[she rotates her raven in the direction of the rookery.]
[it could be happening, but they would not know unless they asked. fang has heard no whisper of this particular thing, but that doesn't mean much, even she knows enough to admit that.]
[and if none have maybe none can. or maybe it's a matter of want. either way, they will try to find more answers. earlier they had none. now they have some.
[she too turns toward the rookery, walking slowly, growing a little as she goes until she's roughly the size of two direwolves. she does not want to try and put jinx in a sleeper hold, or sit on her chest. she would rather see the monkey try his hand(s) at this - but she is resigned to keep the girl from doing anything reckless. well, fuck me, she thinks.]
[sansa lights her raven on fang's shoulder rather than return to her own body just yet.]
I like Mister Bananas too. I think perhaps Jinx is more like him than she seems. I don't think she'd mind me sewing the bloodstone into her clothes; I've done it for some of my friends already.
[she tilts her raven's head.]
It would be well if you could ask their omens. I don't know all of them like I know you and Mister Bananas. Some of them are shy of talking to people. I don't think I've even met the omens of the Darkblood mages I know, but I expect Winter won't mind bothering them either.
